If the Baldwinsville ice hockey team could not catch West Genesee atop the Division I regular-season ranks, at least it could still host a playoff game by finishing second. The Bees had a positive showing in last Tuesday’s grinding battle with Liverpool, earning a 4-1 decision over the Warriors. Liverpool has struggled all season to find offense, and the Bees didn’t help matters, blanking the Warriors except for Mike Bay’s second-period goals. For its part, the Bees pulled clear in the late going, helped by Chris Newman’s pair of goals. Adam Mohr also scored, adding an assist, while Mike Lloyd landed his own goal. Pat Briggs, Sean Larkin and Chris Reiser earned assists.
