Already in the midst of its own vast struggles, the Chittenango boys basketball team found no solace on its home court. This was especially true in Tuesday night’s game against Bishop Ludden, where the Bears ran into a very angry opponent and took a 65-26 loss to the Gaelic Knights. Two days before coming to Chittenango, Ludden had suffered a 49-27 loss to CBA, getting shut out in the first quarter of its eighth consecutive loss to the Brothers in the famed “Holy War” series. No doubt motivated by that bad showing, the Gaelic Knights, still playing without suspended forward Frank Smith, came to Chittenango and punished the Bears on the defensive side, racing to a 36-13 halftime lead and continuing its strong form the rest of the way. Mike Major did manage to earn 10 points, while Mike Moon had six points. Each of the 11 Ludden players that saw court time got at least two points, with Rick Montgomery (12 points) and Jim Sierotnik (10 points) leading the way. Still at home Friday night, the Bears hope to play better against Mexico (5-6).
