Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh reports that deputies discovered a body believed to be that of a missing Baldwinsville woman in the Seneca River.
In a continued effort to locate Karen McConnell, 38, of 151 Van Ness Road, who was reported missing on Sept. 13 by a family member, members of the Sheriff's Navigation Unit were called to search portions of the Seneca River in the area of McConnell's home.
At 10:45 am, Sheriff's Deputies discovered a woman's body in the water, approximately two feet from the river's shore line. A water recovery Team, from the Lakeside Fire Department, was called to retrieve the body from the water.
Sheriff's Detectives investigating McConnell's disappearance learned that it was not unusual for McConnell to swim in the water. Sheriff Walsh reports that there are no immediate signs of foul play and that Sheriff's Detectives will rely on the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office to verify the woman's identity and will await for the results of an autopsy.
