Students welcomed back with picnic

The Skaneateles Waterman and State Street Elementary schools teamed up for the annual welcome back picnic and ice cream social at the State Street Elementary School Cafeteria on Friday, Sept. 12, 2008.

More than 350 people, including families and school staff members, attended the Friday evening celebration. Families could bring their own picnic dinners and enjoy music, face painting, the playground and ice cream with many toppings to choose from.

The picnic was organized by the elementary Parent Teacher Club (PTC), which is led by Kristi Krieger, president of the organization.

The PTC is a not-for-profit organization that funds and supports many programs throughout the school year for both the Waterman Elementary School and State Street Elementary School.

"The picnic is a great way to welcome all of the children back to school and an excellent way for parents to meet each other. It's fun for all of us," Krieger said.
