A tractor-trailer accident five miles west of I-90 Thruway Exit 31 (Utica) has caused the Thruway Authority to close all eastbound lanes just west of that exit.
The eastbound accident, located at milepost 237.4, is between Exits 32 (Westmoreland) and 31.
At this time, eastbound motorists must exit the Thruway at Exit 33 (Verona). Eastbound motorists are advised to use the following detour route:
Make a right onto Route 365 East, keep right to Route 49 East. Route 49 East then becomes I-790 East, which will bring motorists back to the Exit 31 on-ramp.
The Authority has just announced that the westbound passing lane (left lane) has also been closed at milepost 237.4 for accident reconstruction. Motorists traveling westbound are advised that while the driving lane (right lane) remains open in this area, they should be aware of slow or stopped traffic.
