Do you know about ECHO?

Meals are economically priced so as not to impose a burden on our clients. A hot meal, a cold luncheon meal and a frozen meal for the evening or the weekend are available.

The hot meals consist of an entree with vegetables, a salad and a dessert, $3.75. Luncheon consists of a sandwich and fruit, $1.50. Frozen meals are like the hot meal, but without salad or dessert, $2. All efforts are made to accommodate individual preferences and to ensure diet or medical restrictions are complied with.

ECHO bills the client, or the client's caregiver, on a monthly basis for the meals received. If payment is, or will be, a problem Food Stamps may be used to pay for meals. ECHO volunteers will contact appropriate agencies to refer clients who need assistance paying for meals.

The program is staffed with three cook coordinators and a number of volunteers. One third of the volunteers help make up the kitchen staff and the remainder are drivers. ECHO Meals on Wheels is always looking for volunteers, either for the kitchen or delivery duties. An 18-member Board of Directors guides the organization.

ECHO Meals on Wheels is a not-for-profit organization. Information about ECHO Meals on Wheels services is available by calling the kitchen, located at the town of Camillus municipal building, at 487-2878 between 7:30 and 9 a.m., or between noon and 3 p.m. to speak with an ECHO staff member, or leave a message during off hours. If you would like to volunteer, or have any questions about volunteering, call Nancy Knowlton at 673-2464.
