The Van Buren town office will open a half-hour earlier beginning June 2.
During the summer, the office will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., which is the same amount of hours the offices were previously opened.
Supervisor Claude Sykes said the town is trying out the new hours, which are consistent with most municipal office hours across the county. He said since Jan. 1, department heads have been tracking office visitors between the 4:30 and 5 p.m. and found very little business was conducted during the half-hour. Officials hope that by opening a half-hour earlier, residents will be able to conduct town business before going to work. The hours will revert to 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sept. 30.
FD construction begins
The Baldwinsville Fire Department has pulled building permits for the new firehouse on Crego Road and construction is underway, Sykes said. The firehouse will be located on the northwest corner of Crego Road and Downer Street.
Brush pickup change
The Department of Public Works will now pick up brush on the first and third full week of the month, sticking with same Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule as before.
Residences south of the Seneca River will be picked up Monday, residences west of Oswego Street and north of the river will be picked up Wednesdays and residences east of Oswego Street and north of the river will be picked up Fridays. Remember to place yard waste on the curb, not in the road.
