Peonies hold an incredible history in Baldwinsville.
To celebrate this history, the Museum at the Shacksboro Schoolhouse invites peony growers from all over central New York to compete in the second annual Peony Fest display show. Submissions will be displayed from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday June 7 on the grounds of the museum in Baldwinsville. Entries will be accepted between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and each entry will require grower's name, address and phone number as well as a description of the peony or its name if known.
Rules for show are as follows:
Peonies entered must have been grown by person whose name is listed on entry form.
Show categories include cut stems (each participant is limited to a maximum of five stems and each stem must be at least eight inches in length, but no more than 12 inches) and special presentation (arrangements and creative staging).
Each participant must complete an entry card for each entry.
Questions beyond these rules will be determined by Fest show staff and will become the "rule of the day." Information may be submitted on 3"x5" card or its facsimile or on official entry form to be available at the museum beginning May 30. Entry forms will also be available on the day of the show.
At the time of registration on show day, each stem will receive a number for voting identification purposes. Entrants' names will not be disclosed during show. Balloting for People's Choice Award will be ongoing until 4 p.m.
