Manlius: Proposed dog daycare on hold

The Manlius Town Board postponed taking action in favor or against a special use permit for Paws at White Cross Farm -- a proposed luxury dog daycare and boarding facility -- at its April 23 meeting. The board is waiting on a report from the Department of Transportation that will determine whether it will allow a curb cut, said Supervisor Mark Tetley.

In the meantime, the board approved 5-1 (Councilor Dave Marnell opposed) to set up an ad hoc committee that would discuss restrictions and conditions to be placed on owner Diane Blanchfield if a permit is granted. The committee is comprised of Tetley, councilors John Loeffler and John Curtis, and Planning and Development Director Dave Tessier. Residents living nearby the proposed facility on East Seneca Turnpike will be contacted for their input to make sure their concerns, such as noise, traffic and potential groundwater contamination, will be addressed.

The board said it hopes to make a decision at its next meeting, scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday May 14 at the Manlius Town Hall on Brooklea Drive in Fayetteville.
