Marcellus children come to babysitter's rescue

"They did what was necessary at the time and did it well. They saved my life," Gilmour said.

When Mrs. Abbott arrived at the Gilmour home, she immediately called 911. After Gilmour was treated and released from the hospital two days later, she spoke to the O'Conner children about their bravery. Anna O'Conner had run across the street for help while her brother waited with Gilmour. She asked Sean O'Conner, 9, what he would have done if Mrs. Abbott had not been home. "I would have called 911," Sean told her.

The Marcellus School Board will recognize the heroism of the O'Conner children at their next meeting.
