The Jordan-Elbridge Central School District immediately complied with a recent government directive to dispose of certain processed meats.
The directive was specific to certain processed meat supplied by the federal government," said Bill Vita, director of food service. "We only had a few items, which we quickly disposed of. We were fully compliant the first day after the Winter Break.
Processed meats are things like hamburger patties and meatballs. Meat products such as roast beef are not processed meats. J-E keeps a much lower inventory of processed meats than in previous years.
We are good to go right now, but from a public relations standpoint, we will not serve processed beef products for a couple weeks, Vita said. It's not a problem. The kids love our chicken patties!
Vita said new menus would not be produced during this short interim period. He recommended that parents call 689-8500 and select Food Service to listen to the daily meal offering.
