"We want to make sure customers won't get burned," she said. "It's a controlled environment."
Additionally, employees include Lyndsey Randall who has worked in the tanning industry for six years and knows the business "inside and out," and her two daughters Alexandra and Jessica -- both Fayetteville-Manlius students. Her husband John enjoys the marketing aspect of the business and Kay's parents "are always here."
"It's very family-oriented," she said, glad of the support.
Kay, a former interior designer, plans to jazz up the place with colorful walls, music, a new cabinet boasting all kinds of complementary product and eventually a flat screen T.V.
She also wants to provide water for patrons while they wait. As for prices, most will stay the same with a few rising at most a couple dollars to cover expenses.
Currently, Body and Sol is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. No appointments are necessary. Call 682-1114 for more information.
