B'ville: A Canton Woods regular

The Messenger's Jessica Marra recently visited the Canton Woods Senior Center in the village to interview frequent visitors of the facility. There she met Mary Springer and asked her the following questions:

Age: 76

Any children/grandchildren?

"I have nine children, 35 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren with two on the way." (Most of her family lives locally in the Syracuse area.)

How long have you been visiting Canton Woods Senior Center?

"I have lived here in Conifer Village 14 years now, and it's a great place. The people here are wonderful! If you need them they are always here for you. I have nothing but good things to say about Canton Woods. It is my home away from home."

What did you do before you retired?

"I worked for 22 and a half years at the Sheridon Motor Inn on Electronics Parkway. It is now the Holiday Inn."

What are your hobbies?

"I crochet. I like to make lap robes for the hospital. I also love Bingo, and getting together with my family. It's getting so big we have to get together outside, there just isn't enough room in the apartment. I have also worked for 11 years as the secretary (at Canton Woods). It's nice working because you get more familiar with the people as you go along."

Interesting fact . . .

Mary's mother was one of the original Canton Woods members
