Many came to honor the memory of Memphis resident Army Spc. Christopher C. Simpson during a sign dedication ceremony held last Thursday. The sign officially renames Memphis Park the Christopher C. Simpson Memorial Park in honor of the young soldier who was 23 when he was killed March 19 while on duty in Iraq. Residents got the ball rolling on the proposal by petitioning the town of Van Buren to rename the park. After approving the petition, Van Buren officials organized the dedication ceremony.
