Chaucer sidewalk project complete

The Baldwinsville Department of Public Works finished the final pour for the Chaucer Circle sidewalk project last Thursday. The $50,000 project was funded by a grant secured by Sen. John DeFrancisco. Mayor Joseph Saraceni said the project came in under budget and the village will consider using the remaining funds on additional projects.

Jones Road speed reduction

Van Buren officials have put in a request to Onondaga County and the NYS Department of Transportation to review a proposal to lower the speed limit on Jones Road from 40 to 30 mph between Interstate 690 and NYS Route 48. A request to place a stop sign at the intersection of Jones and O'Brien roads was also made.

Appointment/retirement announced

Former village trustee Dave Mott was appointed the chairman of the Architectural Review Board for the village of Baldwinsville. Mott was previously appointed as a member of the board.

Frank Foster, director of Canton Woods Senior Center, announced his planned retirement in January 2009.
