College to host Franklin Trek

The Franklin Trek will be returning to from July 26 to Aug. 2 to celebrate their 55th anniversary in a transitional year for Cazenovia.

"We're going to be transitioning from a chamber-sponsored event to a community-sponsored event, involving the village, the town, the college and the chamber," said Gerry Hook, Stearns and Wheler President and CEO.

Sitting on the chamber board, Hook has been a one-man committee and liaison to the Franklin Trekkers.

"I made a lot of friends with the Franklin Club," Hook said.

The Trek is a weeklong celebration that brings together Franklin owners from across the country to share the histories, legends, and travels of their favorite automobile. Last year, more than 100 Franklins participated. This will be the 38th consecutive time the Trek has made Cazenovia its destination.

Hook hopes to get a group together to help organize the yearly visit and make it more of a community attended event.

"We can certainly use the help," he said.
