Residents and visitors of Skaneateles may have noticed that work had stopped at the Seitz Building on the corner of Genesee and Jordan Streets. Developer Jeremy Gorelick said that the pause was just temporary, a result of issues with the general contractor, Hardy Construction.
According to Gorelick, Hardy Construction went bankrupt and has ceased all operations.
"The past week has been spent by the Seitz Building Corp. in review of the work completed by subcontractors and vendors work has begun again in order to keep the entire residential build-out on schedule and all subcontractors and vendors have indicated willingness to return to work on the project under new direction" Gorelick said.
Gorelick also said that all subcontractors and vendors, including Hardy Construction, have been paid in full for work completed and billed to-date.
The development team is hoping to continue on schedule and all three Jordan Street commercial spaces have been rented.
The Hitching Post, formerly occupying the corner space, moved to the former location of Elegant Needles and is open for business.
