Manlius Town Board gets briefed on upcoming turf vote

Athletic Director Rich Roy said the ability to absorb some of the 25 percent of community events, such as Pop Warner and Youth Lacrosse and Soccer, is a tremendous opportunity. Additionally, it would preserve numerous natural grass fields.

"It's a dual benefit," he said.

A public hearing is scheduled for 7 p.m. Feb. 26 at Eagle Hill Middle School. The vote is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. March 5 at Fayetteville Elementary School.

The board accepted the resolution to approve zone changes for Manlius

businessman Thomas Salzburg who is moving his business to a house across the road from Smith's Plaza off Route 173. Instead of spot zoning for one person, a row of eight properties will change from R3 to RM zones.

It's a reasonable zone change and good for the area, said Town councilor Nick Marzola.

A public hearing has been set for 7:05 p.m. Wednesday Feb. 27 concerning Sensis Corps' request for a zone change at Collamer and Schepps Corner roads.

The board will next meet at 7 p.m. Feb. 6 at Manlius Town Hall on Brooklea Drive in Fayetteville.
