Head of the class

The North Syracuse Central School District is making strides, both academically and athletically. At the regular board meeting, held at C-NS High School, the Board of Education watched as over its fall season scholar athletes were given certificates of recognition by their coaches.

The awards were give for their outstanding performance in the classroom as well as on the field. C-NS had a total of eight qualifying teams this fall. To be eligible for the award, a team must have the required number of players who possess a composite grade point average of 90 or higher.

The members of C-NS boys and girls cross country, coached by Richard Nastasi; boys golf, coached by John Kulesa; field hockey, coached by Pat Kennedy; football, coached by Steve Ellis; girls soccer, coached by Jeremy Lenchert; boys soccer, coached by Mike McCaffery and girls swimming, coached by Brad Ranieri are the teams and coaches that received the awards.

Members of the boys cross country team are: Wesley Kufel, Mike Velasco, Jason Tuori, Mike Davanagh, Nick Dunbar, Jared Walther, Chris Taddeo, Alex Bottorff, Chris Buchanan, Eric Hart, Jack McAndrew and Matt Perkins.

Members of the girls cross country team are: Lauren Emigholz, Lauren Slocum, Brittany Slocum, Lindsay Raulli, Samantha Mozo, Taylor Wendler, Nicole Campagna, Christina Sakowski, Stefany Gale, Schuyler Cary, Alicia Greco and Alex Powlin.

Members of the boys golf team are: James Haney, Joe Ilacqua, Pat Luckett, Brian Piraino, John Stimson, Erik Burrows, Brad Monroe, Andrew Yankay, Christopher Caporuscio and Jonathan Gagnon.

Members of the girls soccer team are: Mariah Centolella, Alyssa Cristaldi, Coreena D'Alfonso, Chelsea Dunay, Brittney Fedele, Rachel Geruso, Katie Jachim, Sarah Lounsbury, Shelby Moteyunas, McKaye Neumeister, Kayla Pickard, Sara Scott, Julianne Viviano, Taylor Zelenyak and Lis Zuern.

Members of the boys soccer team are: Andrew Barron, Richard Goettel, Charles Haven, Kyle Kowalewski, Alex Neumeister, David Novitzki, Marc Orlando, Ryan Goettel, Michael Ince, Michael Mulcahy, Andrew Senska and Ben Brown.
