B'ville's Big Chill a success

Hundreds of people turned out for Baldwinsville's winter festival held in Mercer Park.

Some gathered around the constant bonfire while others anxiously waited in line for tickets to sample chili from Baldwinsville restaurants including the Mohegan Manor, B'ville Diner and Pucello's. Children played on the new playground and participated in activities in the kid's game area while a horse-drawn wagon gave rides along the Seneca River.

People began to gather around the shore of the Seneca River around 3 p.m. as the polar bear plunge participants waited inside a heated tent for their turn to take a dip in the ice covered river. Polar bears Dawn Custer and Jack Baker were the first two to take the plunge, leading a stream of individuals dressed in summertime attire in the frigid weather.

The evening was capped off with a firework display along the shore.
