St. Pat's triples grand marshals

Grand day out:

This year's theme is 'Cornerstones of our Communities."

St. Pat's Parade organizers gathered at Kitty Hoynes in Armory Square this morning to announce this year's Grand Marshals.

Janet Higgins, President of the Parade, said, "The three cornerstones who have been chosen, exemplify all that is good about our community."

This big three are Monsignor Joseph Champlin, Sister Kathleen Osbelt and Reverend John Schopfer, all grand in spirit and vision.

Higgins said, Monsignor Champlin was not present due to illness, but hopes to gather his strength for March. He is a writer and also founded the Guardian Angel Society. Sister Kathleen Osbelt is the founder of Francis House, and Reverend John Schopfer who ministers to those on the southwest side of the city and is credited as the founder of the Brady Faith Center.

Schopfer said on a day like today his father would have been out delivering the mail as usual, it is in that spirit he accepted the honor of the role as one of the Grand Marshals in this trinity.
