Lenox highway employee Keith Webb approached the board Monday asking for overtime pay instead of what he called comp time or flex pay.
Supervisor Rocco DiVeronica told Webb, Lenox employees had decided they wanted time off during slack work instead of overtime pay.
It's what you guys wanted, DiVeronica said.
I want to know if we have the option, Webb said. My boss [Highway Superintendent Tony Cesario] said we were never going to get paid overtime as long as he sat in that seat.
Cesario later said that he never made that statement to Webb.
I'm not the boss. He's the boss and an elected official, DiVeronica said pointing to Cesario.
