Elbridge board approves step in J-E expansion

The Elbridge town board authorized Town Supervisor Ken Bush, Jr. to sign a measure that allowed the Jordan-Elbridge School District to be the lead agency for the J-E High School expansion at their last meeting of 2007.

"The school's been working on a five year plan," Bush said. "This is just another phase of that plan. It's their project, they should lead it."

This phase of the project will allow renovations to some of the existing buildings and athletic fields. Bush said he received a packet from the school district outlining all of the proposed changes prior to and during the expansion. He asked the board to pay special attention to the plans for the athletic fields.

"It's an attempt to remedy that horrible septic system they've had at the school since the 1960's," Bush said. "It will eliminate the outside swamp/septic pond in the middle of [the field], which is long overdue. It's awful to have the stadium and refreshment stand right next to it. I'll vote for the measure just to get rid of that, it's such an embarrassment."

The next Town of Elbridge board meeting will be Wednesday, Jan. 16.
