Last Friday, a 911-phone call alerted officials to a large fire in Van Buren.
Engulfed in flames, the barn fire at the 7518 East Dead Creek Road property was reported around 8 p.m. and required the attention of several different fire departments. There were problems getting enough water to subdue the fire, and crews had to call tankers to the scene.
The need for water affected residents of the surrounding areas. Harbor Heights resident Dave Smith noticed his water pressure was significantly low Friday evening around the time of the fire.
There were no animals or people hurt during the incident. The barn was destroyed, but a second barn on the property, which was located only a few feet away from the fire and houses several horses, was spared.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
