Here's your chance to enjoy a real Thanksgiving dinner in February. The Fayetteville Senior Center is holding its annual fundraiser this weekend, with turkey and all the fixings.
Fayetteville Mayor Mark Olson said he looks forward to this event every year, adding that it's one of the easiest fundraisers to organize.
"People love to volunteer," he said about the profitable afternoon that raises, on average, 10 percent of the center's yearly revenue. Proceeds go to the programs and activities enjoyed by club members.
So what draws so many people to this occasion? According to Olson, it's the cozy environment.
"To me, it reminds me of home," he said. "Everyone who walks away loves it."
This year, the three candidates campaigning for seats on the Fayetteville board will be available to talk to interested parties. Incumbents Dan Kinsella and Mary Coleman are running to keep their seats as trustees. Rick Suatoni is the only challenger. Election Day is March 18.
