Van Buren has changed Town Assessor Theresa Golden's salary due to the shared assessor's agreement the town entered into with the town of Lysander.
Golden's salary was changed to $60,000 for assessment responsibilities in both towns, $23,400 for Van Buren and $36,600 for Lysander, which is proportional to the amount of properties in each town. The agreement saves the town of Van Buren about $13,000 per year.
Grievance day changed
The town of Lysander has permanently changed grievance day to the first Tuesday in June commencing June 3 this year. The change was made due to the shared assessor's agreement between Lysander and the town of Van Buren.
Van Buren's grievance day will remain the fourth Tuesday in May.
Lysander approves contract
After hearing no comments during the public hearing, the Lysander board approved the Enterprise Fire Company contract, which had less than a five percent increase in cost from last year -- from $79,423 in 2007 to $83,505.69 in 2008.
Radburn Drive pump station improvements approved
Lysander has approved improvements to the Radburn Drive pump station, which only serves the Radisson sewer district. It does not serve any extensions or areas surrounding Radisson.
The current unit charge for customers is $63 per unit. With 2,246 units, the maximum estimated increase per unit will be $8.23. The project will be bid along with the River Road pump station project in an effort to save on bidding costs.
A public hearing will be held at 7:01 p.m. March 10 regarding a local law amending the zoning law relating to planned unit development district regulations.
