B'ville: Botox parties and hot lips

Botox parties have become a hit at Spa On the River.

Owner Judy Santimaw began offering the events about three years ago every six months, but because of the great turnouts each session, they have been pushed up to every three months. The procedure is done by "the very good" Dr. Douglass Halliday, an allergy, ENT, sinus and facial plastic surgeon.

During a Botox party, an estimated 50 to 60 people will stop by the spa. Before performing any procedures, Halliday presents a seminar talking about the Botox procedure. Halliday, along with his team of registered nurses, administer the procedure and the entire process typically takes 15 minutes.

According to Santimaw, people as young as 20 and as old as 60 are having the procedure done.

"I really like the Botox," Santimaw said. "It has prevented me from forming unwanted lines."

During a Botox party, other specials are also offered such as half price pedicures, and wine, cheese and finger foods are served. And you don't have to get the Botox service in order to enjoy the specials. In fact, these parties are a great way to come out and get acquainted with the staff of professionals and take advantage of services such as photolight therapy, spa level mineral cosmetics, crystal free microdermabrasion and chemical peels. Anything above that, the spa refers to Halliday. He performs many different procedures including Radiesse, Restylane, Lifestyle Lift and Botox.

The next session being offered will begin at 3 p.m. Tuesday March 11 and reservations are highly recommended.

The spa also offers many other great services such as manicures, pedicures, massages, facials, permanent cosmetics, ear piercing and haircuts. The permanent makeup artist, returning this spring, will do eyebrows, lip liners and eyeliners. The spa provides WIFI service, so you can bring your laptop, come in and relax in the surroundings reminiscent of old world Italy.
