The sweet aroma of sugar cookies wafted down the halls of the high school this week as kindergarteners rolled, cut and added a sprinkle or two. For more than 30 years kindergarten classes in the Canastota Central School District have carried out this tradition.
Kelly Boswell, registered dietitian and Family and Consumer Sciences teacher at Canastota was head baker for the annual event.
Each kindergartener was partnered up with a junior or senior high school student who guided them through the process of rolling out the dough, making a cutout and then icing and adding sprinkles after the cookies were baked.
The cookies are packaged up and sent home with the kids to their families as gifts.
