Marcellus fall production opens this weekend

Tompkins, who will be playing Mellersh Wilton, is in his second year of performing. He made his stage debut in last year's fall show. Tompkins is on the Marcellus boys cross-country team and wasn't originally planning to audition for "Enchanted April."

"I just showed up to see what was going on and got drafted," he said. Tompkins actually jumped in after cross-country season ended to take the place vacated by Kolis. Kolis was the original character, but was struggling to keep up with a senior's demanding college preparation and school work in addition to having a lead in the show. Kolis then took on the job of stage manager.

Powers has an extensive acting background. He has been active with local professional community theatre productions in addition to school shows. He has performed in Syracuse Stage's "The Sound of Music" and in Merry-Go-Round Theatre's "The Music Man."

Enchanted April will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Dec. 6 and at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday Dec. 7. All performances will be held in the Driver Middle School Auditorium. Tickets are $5 for students and $6 for adults. For more information, call David Weaver at 673-0296.
