B'ville: Area's best restaurants sought

The Taste of Baldwinsville seeks area restaurants willing to put their best creations to the test while supporting a great cause.

The 2009 Taste of Baldwinsville, scheduled for March 7 at the CNY Family Sports Centre on Jones Road, is the primary fundraising event for the Baldwinsville Volunteer Center. With competitions in a variety of categories, the restaurants will be judged by both celebrity judges and a "people's vote" by attendees. Space is limited and will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Any restaurants interested in participating should contact Christine Monica at 638-7113 or Susan Arthur at 635-5862.

In addition to great food, beverages and music by the band "10 Years Later," live and silent auctions will offer valuable products and services donated by local businesses. Anyone who would like to volunteer support, donate auction items or be a participating restaurant should contact Nancy Conley of the Volunteer Center at 638-0251.

The Baldwinsville Volunteer Center mobilizes people and resources to fulfill needs within the community. Its programs include transporting senior citizens; the Christmas Bureau, which provides food and gifts to families and elderly shut-ins; mentoring school children; promoting community involvement and opportunities for youth and an information and referral help line to let people know about community resources and promote volunteer opportunities. For more information on the Volunteer Center, visit bvillevolunteers.org or call 638-0251.
