Lebanon Town Board to hold special meeting Saturday

The Lebanon Town Board will meet Saturday at 9 a.m. at the town offices as 1210 Bradley Brook Road in the hamlet.

The public is invited to attend.

The meeting is being called to address the bid award on a proposed salt storage building that was discussed at the regular meeting Aug. 11 at the Smith Valley Community Center in Randallsville. Town officials will meet to discuss the two bids that were received and tentatively rejected last Monday due to document problems that required review of the town attorney and project engineer.

Town board members will re-review all the bid documents Saturday. Town officials, in consultation with the project engineer and town attorney, determined that the appropriate bid documents had been delivered to the town by UPS in accordance with the bid submission deadlines but were not available for review and discussion at the meeting due to a misplaced bid document. Town officials will consider rescinding their prior resolution to reject all bids and evaluate accepting the low bidder per recommendation of the project engineer.

At the August 11 meeting, town officials also tentatively approved the low bidder on fuel bids, pursuant to a review of bid documents by the town attorney, highway superintendent, supervisor and deputy supervisor. Board members voted four to one in favor of going with an escalation clause, which is tied to the actual price of oil versus a fixed price that is locked in at a higher rate offered by one vendor.

Town officials were leaning toward the state and county bid prices that were offered.
