Senior citizens prep for MSC walkathon

"We explained how we can set it to miles or number of steps they're taking," Dr. Jerry said.

The doctors encourage each person to reach a goal and often do so through trivia, games and prizes, Dardzinksi said. Dr. Jerry has even purchased $50 gift certificates from Bonefish Grille and DeWitt Wegmans as prize incentives for the health-driven event.

Can senior citizens still join?

"Absolutely," Dr. Jerry said. "If they can't come three times a week, they can come once or twice or whatever meets their schedule."

About TLC Chiropractic

Dr. Jerry Rosney, of TLC Chiropractic Wellness Center, recently celebrated his third year practicing in Manlius; he welcomed his son Joseph to the practice in January of this year. The two doctors provide modern chiropractic services and wellness education to the local community.

"We're very holistic, Dr. Jerry said. "We're both pretty strong believers that we were created pretty healthy and that it's your lifestyle that impacts your health."

They both said that while they do understand genetics can play a role in health matters, in most cases it's the way you live your life.

The father/son team frequently gives free health talks in the community, most recently at the Manlius Library, Thanks a Latte and the Syracuse Rotary Club. Their goal is to educate community members on the importance of natural lifestyle choices that enable bodies to function optimally.

"We try to break it down kind of easy: Eat well, move well and think well."

The Rosneys graduated from New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, N.Y. with a Doctorate of Chiropractic. They were the first father and son duo in the history of the school to be in attendance at the same time. As Dr. Jerry was finishing the program four years ago, Dr. Joe was just beginning.
