B'ville: Dreams do come true at Patinka's

Susan Borrowman and Jill Sweeney, sisters, partners and natives of Baldwinsville, are celebrating the six-month anniversary of Patinka's Gift Shop with an open house from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday April 26.

Located at 49 Oswego St., right in the heart of downtown Baldwinsville, Patinka's is definitely part of Baldwinsville's restoration project. The continuing appearance of new, cozy and inviting shops like Patinka's intrigues residents, local neighbors and travelers from other areas alike, inviting them to stop in and take a look.

Patinka's offers a safely lit parking lot behind the building so you can feel secure about spending time looking at all the unique crafts, furniture and decorative treasures they have on display. Their shop - in a cottage-like building - is decorated in a warm and welcoming style. They call it "eclectic" and there are so many charmingly appealing items to look at that fit every kind of d (c)cor, just browsing is a fun experience.

Borrowman and Sweeney pride themselves on acquiring uniquely different pieces, and Patinka's blend of the old and new creates an imaginative and distinctive mix in a homey setting. They paint everything themselves and feature McKenzie-Childs-like painted pots, furniture, mirrors and more.

Orders are graciously accepted, and patrons are even welcome to bring in their own furniture to have it painted in a style that they like. One of Patinka's primary goals is to offer decorating tips and inspiration to folks who have trouble making their own homes a reflection of themselves. Borrowman and Sweeney will be glad to offer suggestions to create the home you love to come home to.

So, come in and experience a night out in the calming setting Patinka's offers. Enjoy refreshments while you browse and relax in the cozy comforts this shop exudes. Patinka's has made Sweeney's girlhood dreams of owning such a shop come true . . . and it's filled with such a wealth of unique home-enhancing items and gifts that can make yours come true too.

Regular shop hours are from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Call 635-4717 if you have any questions about directions or the open house.
