Chittenango Fire Department plans events

On Friday May 2, the Chittenango Fire Department and Auxiliary, in conjunction with the Ladies Auxiliary of Onondaga County Volunteer Fireman's Association (LAOCVFA) will be sponsoring a blue-light night. This is an open house dedicated to the emergency services field. There will be demonstrations, games, free food and drawings, among other things.

It will run from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Chittenango Volunteer Fire Station at 417 Genesee St. It is suggested that everyone have a blue light displayed at their home or business (in an outside light or in a window) to honor all fire department and EMS members. Blue lights will be on sale for $2 a bulb for anyone interested in honoring the emergency services in this manner.

On Saturday May 10, the CFD will hold its annual garage sale at the station. The sale will begin at 8 a.m., and lunch and beverages will be available for purchase. Anyone wishing to make a donation of saleable items can call 663-8116 to make arrangements for drop-off or pick up.

On May 25, the CFD will hold a chicken BBQ. The menu includes a half chicken, macaroni salad, baked beans, roll and butter, drink and dessert. Senior, child and chicken-only meals will be available. Take-out is also available.
