What does organic mean?

Skaneateles High School hosts organic talk

Jamie Edelstein of Wyllie Fox Farm will talk about what organic means and why shopping and eating organic is important at a presentation April 23 in the Skaneateles High School Auditorium.

Edelstein is a member of the Cayuga County farm Bureau Board and Northeastern Organic Farms Association (NOFA).

"I hope to educate people on where their food comes from and the reasons why local organic produce shouldn't just be a trend," he said.

Edelstein said that "organic" is a complicated topic and he is going to offer a "hands-on" view of what it means for the consumer. He will also answer questions the audience has on the topic.

"Hopefully the seminar will offer a farmers point of view on organic world

and farming in general," he said. "The seminar will contain logical information that the listener can understand. The perspective from someone who gets his

hands dirty everyday not just a talking head."

The event is hosted by the Skaneateles Environmental Club and Sponsored by Natur-Tyme. There will also be door prizes.
