The Canastota Police Department continues its investigation in the April 15 break-in and robbery of the Main Street Market.
Police Chief James Zophy said at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning a passing motorists spotted the glass broken and the door open of the market located at 118 North Main St. The motorist flagged down patrol Officer James Gleasman.
"A witness saw someone fleeing in dark clothes eastbound on Canal Street on the sidewalk," Zophy said. "The witness then lost sight of the subject."
Gleasman determined the window on the door had been broken. Three cartons of cigarettes were stolen. The person attempted to take two six packs of beer but it was dropped inside the store and on the sidewalk, Zophy said.
Physical evidence was taken inside the store and is
waiting for lab analysis to be completed.
Zophy said a suspect was questioned. No arrests were made.
