Durhamville: Stabbing assault sends one to hospital

Oneida-based state police are investigating an assault that happened last night around 9:30 p.m. at 339 Center St.in Durhamville.

Patrols responded to a 911 call for a subject with stab wounds at that location. The investigation revealed that David C. Gilboy, 26, of 372 Lenox Ave., Oneida, Anthony M. Musacchio, 27, of 3339 Center St., Durhamville and Patrick S. Buell, 28, of 6096 Irish Ridge Road, Durhamville were drinking alcohol at the Musacchio residence when a verbal argument started between Gilboy and Buell.

The argument led to a physical altercation between the two when Gilboy pulled a pocket knife from his pants pocket and stabbed Buell in the right chest and arm, causing severe bleeding. Musacchio attempted to intervene in the altercation and suffered knife wounds to his left hand and leg.

Buell was transported by Vineall Ambulance to the Oneida Healthcare Center before being airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse by Mercy Flight helicopter where he was listed in critical condition.

Musacchio was treated at the scene for his injuries by EMS personnel, but refused transport.

Gilboy was taken into custody at the scene by responding troopers and the knife was recovered. He was charged with first-degree assault and second-degree assault, both felonies, along with the misdemeanor charge of fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Gilboy was arraigned in the town of Verona Court and sentenced to Oneida County Jail with no bail per the recommendation from the Oneida County District Attorney's Office.

State police personnel were assisted by members of the Durhamville Fire Department, Oneida County Sheriff's Department and city of Oneida Police Department.
