Friends of Tracey Wheeler are teaming together April 19 in a walk to fight heart disease. Wheeler, who lived in Manlius with her husband Robert and two children, Haley and Jackson, lost her own battle Oct. 30 at the age of 45. She died of a heart attack.
"She was a woman who made you feel like you were the only person in the world when you talked with her," said Lynn Rybinski, who is walking in honor of her friend. "She loved to have friends and family around her all the time. Her house was always open for a cup of coffee and good conversation."
Nine people comprise Wheeler's team, with her sister-in-law Sue Ciancio as leader. Money raised from the Syracuse Heartwalk will benefit the American Heart Association. The 3K walk begins at 10 a.m. at Long Branch Park in Liverpool.
