By prevailing in all kinds of ways, the Cazenovia wrestling team kept pace with Hannibal atop the OHSL Liberty division. Up against Skaneateles last Tuesday night at Buckley Gym, Cazenovia dominated this battle of Laker teams, prevailing by a score of 52-9. While it was true that the eastern Lakers benefited from forfeits to Brad Nardella (103 pounds), Jake Wilson (112 pounds) and Clancy Kemp (215 pounds), it didn’t need that much good fortune to take the western Lakers out. Teddy Kugler, at 125 pounds, took just 57 seconds to pin Stephen Hartnett, while Sam Taylor (171 pounds) earned his pin over Jimmy Carro in 1:37. Cody Foster wrestled at 189 pounds and finished off Chris Wise in 3:07, with Noah Shephard (135 pounds) taking 13 fewer seconds to pin Eric Murray. Alex Petroff continued to wrestle well, beating 130-pound opponent Jacob Valentino 15-4 as Dylan Perry, at 145 pounds, shut out Nathan Hunt 7-0. In the closest Cazenovia win, Phil Kugler (160 pounds) edged Kyle Sears 8-6. Even the defeats proved close, with Joe Szlamczynski (152 pounds) beaten by Nick Sherman 4-2 and Adam Lockwood (140 pounds) falling to Jacob Carvalho 8-4.
