The village of Minoa Code currently contains no provisions for rental properties, but soon that may change. The Minoa village board wants to hear from landlords and tenants at a public hearing set for 7 p.m. Monday Oct. 1 at the village hall. The session will pertain to Local Law #7 covering registration and inspection of rental properties.
The proposed addendum involves:
Requiring annual registration and inspection of all rental properties located within the village; and
Identifying all landlords and managing agents, and requiring a local presence (within Onondaga or contiguous counties) for purposes of enforcing state and village code requirements.
The purpose and intent of the proposed change is to establish a uniform program for rental properties that will help protect and safeguard the welfare of landlords and tenants.
