The Manlius Village Board voted unanimously to approve a $9,914 bid for renovations and upgrades to Gazebo Park at Tuesday night's meeting.
The board chose the bid from Landmasters Group, Inc. It was the lowest bid out of three potential choices.
"Harold [Hopkinson] wanted to do something special to mark the 50th anniversary of the Manlius Spade and Trowel Garden Club," said Mayor Rick Penhall. "The park was one of the first parks in the village, and that's why we decided to do the work."
The Spade and Trowel Club is also donating $4,000 to the project, which includes a new brick walkway, stonework, electricity upgrades and a new fountain.
The club wants to keep the total cost under $20,000, said Betty Hopkinson, chairperson of civic beautification, during an Eagle Bulletin interview held earlier this month.
Village trustee Harold Hopkinson proposed the upgrades at the previous village meeting. The club is holding a bulb sale this month to help finance the renovation.
The board will next meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 25 at the Manlius Village Centre.
