DeWitt: Regal to build at mall

Moviegoers at Shoppingtown Mall will soon have more film choices and cushier seating. Regal Entertainment Group, a motion picture exhibitor that owns the DeWitt mall's theatre, is expanding its movie house. Construction and renovations will include four additional auditoriums, a new lobby, new seats and stadium seating. The project is expected to be complete in time for next summer.

"Shoppingtown Mall has been part of the greater Syracuse market for more than 50 years," said Al Lipsy, senior property manager at Shoppingtown in a recent press release. "And the renovation and expansion of Regal Cinemas will ensure that our shoppers will continue to enjoy a complete experience that brings together shopping, dining and entertainment."

The expanded cinemas, or Shoppingtown Mall Stadium 14, will cover approximately 64,000 square feet and include 14 auditoriums -- four more screens than the original 10-screen theatre that opened a decade ago.
