DeWitt passes delayed budget

The new budget will take effect in January of 2008.

Cell phones for soldiers

Soldiers will be receiving a gift from the town of DeWitt. Curulla asked the board to allow a gift of 41 surplus cell phones to be donated to the group called Cell Phones for Soldiers.

The phones are collected and sent to a company that pays for used phones. CPFS then obtains calling cards with the money collected. These cards are sent to US Armed Forces personnel.

The board voted to allow the phones to be donated.

Early holiday for town police

A measure was carried Tuesday to allow the town to pay the police department's holiday pay early this year. According to Curulla, pay is to be given the first pay period of December. This year the first payday will take place on Dec. 14. The Police Department Association asked to be paid their holiday pay on Nov. 30. Board members voted unanimously to allow this early payday.

The next meeting will take place on Nov. 26 at 7:30 p.m. It will be held in the Town Hall on Butternut Drive.
