Bargain price books in B'ville

As the winter weather approaches, there's nothing nicer than snuggling under a warm blanket next to a blazing fire with a good book to read.

If you want to stock up on books by your favorite authors before the first winter storm, check out Baldwinsville Used Books at 6 Mechanic St. next door to Nami's Engraving. Both paperback and hardcover books are available with prices ranging from just 50 cents to $3.

"There is a little bit of everything," said storeowner Deborah Barber of Baldwinsville.

Books include historical fiction, suspense, children's books, new releases, westerns, classics and mysteries. And every day, new books are added to the shelves.

If you like to give books as holiday gifts, Baldwinsville Used Books is an inexpensive way to stay within your budget.

"Book prices are the most reasonable compared to other local used book stores. You will never pay more than $3 for any book," she said.

Barber recently moved back to Baldwinsville after living out-of-state.

"In the 80's and 90's, my mother and I owned a bookstore in Marketplace Mall called Bookshelf," she said.

Her past experience as a bookstore owner enabled her to recognize the need for a used bookstore in the Baldwinsville community and it is a great alternative to paying full retail price for new books.

"People are welcome to come in any time to trade in their books for either cash or store credit," Barber said.

The value of trade-in books depends on their condition, age and demand. No appointments are necessary for book trades. To keep the prices of her books as low as possible, she accepts payments of cash and personal checks only.

Store hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The store is closed on Sunday and Monday.
