Now the Fayetteville-Manlius girls golf team can claim its biggest milestone of all — that of a perfect regular season.
Two more victories in recent days placed the Hornets at 17-0, an unblemished mark earned in all kinds of weather conditions against all kinds of foes.
The final hurdle came last Wednesday afternoon, at F-M’s home course of Butternut Creek, where the highly motivated Hornets tore up a team record in a 135-153 win over Baldwinsville. The previous low team total was 142.
Richmond University-bound senior Jillian Fraccola registered a 30, and eighth-grader Alex Seabury was just as hot, earning a 32.
Ali Wakefield continued the charge with a 36, as teammates Lindsey Simmons and Sara Simons each finished with totals of 37.
A day earlier, the Hornets shot 160 to beat Central Square (171) in a four-way match at Butternut Creek where Utica Proctor (181) and Nottingham (204) were also involved.
Seabury led the way for F-M in this match, shooting a 37 over nine holes, with Ali Wakefield right behind as she shot 38.
After a week to practice, the Hornets will send its best players to Green Lakes State Park next Wednesday for the Section III championship tournament. The top 10 individual finishers will advance to the June 9-10 state tournament at Foxfire.
