Madison County: Great Swamp Conservancy celebrates 10th anniversary

Andrew Hunter will be joined by another 13 artists at the Great Swamp Conservancy's Spring Migration Nature Art Festival held May 5 and 6 form 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Adrienne Dewitt, Helga Gilbert, Judith Hand, Doug Jones, Tom Lenweaver, Claudia Loomis Chandler, Ted Morrison, Theodore Richter, Cyndee Sharp, the Syracuse Camera Club, Marilyn Vona, John Weeks, and Tom Yacovella are all scheduled to be at work in their mini studios and have plenty samples available for sale.

Each day will include demonstrations by Wildlife Rehabilitator Bonnie Folnsbee, mule drawn wagon rides, a petting zoo for alpacas, Sky Ride with SkyWorks, a Civil War Encampment, a walk through hot air balloon, conservation displays, a presentation by Tom Yacovella on the wild turkey food, trail hikes, children's fishing area, children's arts and crafts, a raffle of a fly rod, a book signing by acclaimed naturalist John Weeks, and food.

The schedule of events Saturday includes music by John Wolford and Anne Weider, presentations by Max Man Reptile Rescue, and a local wildlife display by the Utica Zoo.

Sunday features Ron Walker's Friends with Feathers, a noon visit by the Madison County Dairy Ambassadors, the Kambuyu Marimba Ensemble and a program by the Wind Dancers."

The GSC is located on North Main Street, four miles north of Canastota.
