Lysander: Public hearing recessed

Lysander officials have not yet made a decision regarding the proposed amendment to the Timbers project.

At last Thursday's board meeting, a public hearing was held regarding a change to the general plan for the Timbers project between River Road and the Seneca River on Cold Springs Road. Developer Bill Price previously requested a change in the plan to increase density in the northern part of the project while decreasing the density in the southern end. The overall density of the project would not change.

"We are not asking for increased density or any change in the uses," Price said. "We're not changing the boundaries of the property. We are shifting density from other areas of the plan."

Price wants to add a high-density residential area that would allow 14 units per acre to create an apartment complex within the property that would house 200 apartments. He also said the new plan has a positive impact on traffic and the overall population.

The Lysander planning board and the Syracuse Onondaga County Planning Association approved the original plan. The new plan, however, has not yet received approval. According to Supervisor Barry Bullis, the Lysander planning board was concerned that the changes would lead to twice as much leased property than originally planned.

The public hearing was recessed until 7:35 p.m. on Thursday May 10.
