Shaun T Luu was raised in Liverpool and was a 2000 graduate of Liverpool High School. A music major at Onondaga Community College, Shaun had several loves in life including music, the support of his friends and most of all, horror movies.
Shaun was diagnosed with brain cancer in October of 2002. In the summer of 2004 Shaun was told that he beat cancer. It went into remission. He got his second chance at life. Several months later Shaun was told that his cancer came back and this time there was nothing they could do. Shaun passed away on June 10, 2005 at the very young age of 23 -- never to be forgotten and will always be greatly missed.
Shaun once said, "Earth is just heavens ghetto and I'm just waiting to go home."
Shaun is survived by his parents, Hong and Rasha Luu of Liverpool; a beautiful sister, Helanah; paternal grandparents, Cuong and Hang Luu; several aunts, uncles, cousins and many, many friends that Shaun touched throughout his short years in this world.
For the last couple of years a few friends of Shaun Luu decided to dedicate a horror movie film fest in his name. The 3rd annual fest will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 10 at the Palace Theatre, 2394 James St., Syracuse. It will include three bands, five movies and will be the biggest single day concert/film fest in Syracuse. More than 100 friends and family usually come out to reminise and share stories of beloved Shaun.
An avid horror film collector, Shaun would search high and low for films that were either deamed too gross or even banned from the U.S. It was the shock value of the films that brought him towards them. He wasn't scared by anything, not even cancer.
