The two Skaneateles Odyssey of the Mind teams that competed in Worlds brought something more home with them from the competition in Michigan than great memories. They brought a team from Poland that also had competed in the World event.
"It's kind of like we brought some of Worlds back with us for everyone to enjoy," said Kelley McQuiggan, district enrichment specialist. "Our whole community supported our trip to the World competition. This is our return gift."
A team of five students from Poland interacted with people throughout the community last week, along with two coaches and one parent. They stayed with host families, visited classrooms, and went on adventures that gave them a taste of Central New York including a tour on the Judge Ben and a visit to Fesko Farms.
At the World finals, the State Street School team, which competed in the "I'm Only Thinking of You" category, placed third in Division I. The middle school team, in the "Tag 'Em" category, placed 16th.
McQuiggan said both teams did a great job, competing against the best teams from around the world.
