An editor of several European carp publications, who was present during the Northeast Regional Carp Tournament held in Baldwinsville in May, recently contacted the village about organizing a carp world cup tournament in Baldwinsville.
Mayor Joe Saraceni read a letter, sent by Stephond Gonzalez, to the board. In the letter, Gonzalez refers to Baldwinsville as a nice place with generous people and numerous carp. He said the United States had the potential to become a leading country for carp fishing and that Baldwinsville would be an ideal location for the next world cup tournament. He also invited the village to help organize the event. Saraceni said he wasn't sure that the village would be organizers and commented on the excellent job the Greater Baldwinsville Economic Development Agency did with May's tournament.
Gonzalez's company previously organized several world cup tournaments including a 1999 tournament in Romania.

EDR creates design plan for $1,500
The village of Baldwinsville has contracted EDR to create a design plan for the space where the former Harrington Firehouse was located for $1,500. The funds to cover the expense were reallocated from the original $40,000 set aside for the removal of the firehouse. The total cost of removing the debris totaled $31,000, leaving $9,000 for a proposed village development fund, which will cover the design plan from EDR.
